Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University continues its efforts to ensure university-industry collaboration. A visit on February 20, 2024, included Prof. Dr. Ahmet Evren Erginal, Director of the Graduate School of Education; Dr. Lecturer İsmail Onur Tunç, Deputy Director of the Graduate School of Education; Prof. Dr. Hülya Demirören, Head of the Department of Materials Science and Engineering; Prof. Dr. Hakan Daloğlu, Head of the Department of Painting; Dr. Lecturer Ezgi Yemenicioğlu Negir, Faculty Member of the Department of Painting; Prof. Dr. Mehmet Fatih Karagül, Head of the Department of Ceramics and Glass; Assoc. Dr. Ergün Arda, Faculty Member of the Department of Ceramics and Glass; Prof. Dr. Begüm Öz, Head of the Department of Fine Arts Education; Prof. Dr. Bünyamin Bacak, Head of the Department of Occupational Health and Safety; Assoc. Dr. Didem Çatal, Head of the Department of Graphic Design; Prof. Dr. Tijen Enil Bektaş, Head of the Department of Chemical Engineering; Assoc. Dr. Uğur Cengiz and Assoc. Dr. Filiz Uğur Nigiz, Faculty Members of the Department of Chemical Engineering; Assoc. Dr. Tuba Batu, Head of the Department of Handicrafts at Çan Vocational School; and Lecturer Dr. Kadir Yılmaz, Coordinator of University-Public-Industry-Civil Society Collaboration (ÜKSAS).

During the visit, ÇOMÜ academics organized a technical and exploratory tour of the Etili Ceramic Factory, founded in 2006 and continuing its activities in Etili Village, Çan district, Çanakkale. Before the tour, Factory Manager Selçuk Tülek provided information on the tour route, safety, and the Etili Ceramic Factories to the academics. The academics, accompanied by Factory Manager Selçuk Tülek and Administrative and Social Affairs Manager Erol Güler, had the opportunity to closely observe the production process and toured the factory and facilities.

Following the tour, ÇOMÜ academics met with Etili Ceramic A.Ş. founder İsmail Tülek and Selçuk Tülek in the Etili Ceramic A.Ş. meeting room. Administrative and Social Affairs Manager Erol Güler, Quality, Environment, and OHS Manager Başak Uysal, and R&D Process and Input Control Manager Burak Çakır also attended the meeting.

The meeting began with an opening speech by Etili Ceramic A.Ş. founder İsmail Tülek. Sharing his 57 years of experience in the industry, Tülek emphasized that Etili Ceramic operates locally and globally with a total quality approach. He highlighted the direct and indirect economic contributions to the region, ongoing social responsibility projects, and their support for university-industry collaboration. Tülek expressed his satisfaction with the visit of the ÇOMÜ academics and mentioned the desire to contribute to the region, the national economy, education, and students through joint projects.

The meeting discussed ensuring university-industry collaboration and potential projects within this scope. Additionally, topics such as R&D studies, production and marketing processes, energy savings, environmental protection, and the views and suggestions of academics specialized in different disciplines were addressed. The parties reached an agreement to collaborate on implementable projects to add value to the region, students, and the national economy.
